STTI Program 

Classes offered in person or by web video conferencing! 

Dr. Carol Clark is an approved provider for the Florida Board of Psychology (exp. 5-12), Florida Board of Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling (exp. 3-13) and Florida Board of Nursing (exp. 10-13). Provider #50-550. Dr. Carol L. Clark is also an approved provider for the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT). 

AASECT requires 90 clock hours of Human Sexuality Education and 60 clock hours of Sex Therapy Training in specified content hours as part of their requirements for certification in sex therapy. Dr Clark provides the courses that will allow you to meet this requirement should you choose to pursue this certification. 

The title of “Sex Therapist” is a protected title in the State of Florida. 

FS 491, FAC 64B4-7.004 states the following: 

“It is the intent of the Board of Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling, to assure that those practitioners who hold themselves out to the public as sex therapists have completed a minimum level of training in the specific area of sex therapy and the general provision of clinical, counseling and psychotherapy services. A minimum of 20 hours of supervision, where each supervisory session is no more than one and one-half hours in length, by a qualified supervisor as set forth in Rule 64B4-7.004, F.A.C., during a minimum period of time of six months.” 

The Sex Therapy Training Institute meets those requirements by providing 120 hours of education in the areas specified in the Rule, as well as the supervision requirement of 20 hours. 

FS 490 states the following: 

“Prior to holding oneself out as a sex therapist, a psychologist must have received training in the provision of psychological health services and shall have completed a minimum of 150 clock hours of education which meets the requirements of Rule 64B19-13.003, F.A.C., in the specific area of sex therapy and in the interaction between sex therapy and the general provision of psychological health services.” 

STTI offers 10 hours in each of the following course content areas:

3. Gender Identity Issues 

4. Socio-cultural factors in sexual values and behavior 

5. Medical factors related to sexuality and sexual functioning 

6. Interaction between sexuality and dynamics of interpersonal and family relationships 

7. Sexual offender treatment 

8. Diagnosis of sexual dysfunctions, disorders, and deviancy 

9. Treatment of sexual dysfunctions, disorders, and deviancy 

10. Risk assessment with sex offenders 

11. Sexual abuse treatment 

12. Sexually Transmitted Diseases 

13. Legal, ethical, and forensic issues in sex therapy 

14. Research on sexual dysfunctions, disorders, and deviancy 

15. Victimology and Victim Therapy 

 

Training Calendar 

Pricing for the STTI courses: 

120 education hours: $4,800 150 education hours: $6,000 20 supervision hours (10 individual and 10 group): $750 

5 hour individual class: $245 

10 hour individual class: $475 

A $500 deposit is required at time of registration.
